Dispelling the Rumors!

In the last few weeks I have received more than a few questions about the future of the race track. I would like to take a moment to answer these questions. In 2011 The race track was purchased by Si in the hopes to save a New England dirt race track from closing. In the several years prior to purchase, the instability of the race track had led to fewer racers and fewer spectators.
Over the last few years we have added more clay to the race surface than the track has seen in many years, maybe ever, I don't know. We have relocated and added bleachers, and many things I cannot remember. Currently we are adding VIP accommodations. We have all our divisions sponsored. The first year we raced a limited schedule and only had a handful of each "night of racing" sponsored. This year we have a full schedule with all but a few nights sponsored. Our spectatorship is up as well as our car count. This season our racing is paying for itself!
It is true we are currently looking for the right individual to take the wheel for the 2015 season. Si and I have done our best. It is clear to both of us that a more seasoned, experienced individual is needed to bring the track to the next level. We did not enter this endeavor with dreams of it making us rich but rather to allow the tradition of the sport we love, dirt track racing, to continue at the Legion Speedway. The intention at the time of purchase was to invest in the facility, create a stable consistent management team, and return the race track to profitability. By doing this it was felt we would be able to make the race track attractive as an investment.
With the help of many committed individuals, we have reached almost all of our goals. Our final task is to transition to a new management team or owner. This new team will not only be expected to carry forward the ground work that has been laid, but continue to improve the race track in the future.
This fall Si will begin a new chapter in his life. If all works according to plan he and Lindsey will be relocating. They have a deposit on a beautiful home in VA. I personally wish them both the best. Although Si is moving he will still hold ownership of the track. As for myself I hope to return to racing next season. We have spoken with several interested parties in regards to the race track. At this time we have every intention for the race track to operate next season. We along with others have invested three years breathing life back into this racetrack. It is not our intention to let it slip away.
