Submitted by: Christine Boesch on 2014-07-21 at 10:05

The DIRTcar Sportsman Modifieds returned to Legion Speedway on Sunday to compete with the Mike's Automotive Modifieds in the O'Reilly Auto Parts Twilight Racing Challenge. Chris Donnelly added another win to his resume in the #20c. He started towards the back of the seventeen car field and as always, saved his car and patiently worked his way to the front throughout the 50 lap race. Kevin Chaffee, another DIRTcar driver, also worked his way up from the back and finished second in the #73, and Travis Shinn #17NH, also with DIRTcar Modifieds, finished third.

The Granite State Mini Sprints returned to the track with twenty one 500cc's and 12 600's. Spencer Allen worked his way from mid-pack in the #22 600cc for the win, while #73 Jake Williams took home second. Both drivers also compete with SCoNE, Sprint Cars of New England. Richard Crooker finished third in the #21 without a nose wing after contact with another car, displaying his excellent driving skills. The 500cc winner was Shawn King in the #27, second place was Chris Carbee in the #71, and third was #51 Tom Chaffee.

The Bond Auto Parts Pure Stocks and the Peanuts Auto Super Streets were run together again, as there were less than four Pure Stocks. In the race within a race Ryan Ovitt was the first Pure Stock across the finish line in the #77 and the fifth car overall. Cassie Ottati was second in the #54, and Dennis Thorogood finished third in his #65. Derek O'Hearn won the Super Street race in the #55, putting him in the points lead, Sam Comeau was second in the #30, and JP Vaillancourt came home third in his #525.

The Enfield Garage Outlaw Mini Stock winner was #55 Aaron Bunker, Dave Durkee finished second, making it to the winners' circle again in the #67, and current points leader John Knight was third in the #12k.

Legion Speedway's next race will be next Sunday, July 27. The gates open at 12, hot laps at 2, and the green flies at 3.
