Veteran Jeff Huntington scored his first win of the season in the Peanut's Auto Sportsman Modifieds. Other winners in the O'Reilly Auto Parts Twilight Racing Series included Jacob Brown in the Outlaw Mini Stocks and Bob Crawford in the Sportsman Late Models. The Wingless Auto Club and the Granite State Mini Sprints were on hand as well with Mark Cole taking the laurels for the Wingless Auto Club. Nate Martell topped 500cc Class for the Granite State Mini Sprints with Drew Eldridge winning the 600cc event.
Racing Veteran Jeff Huntington led the entire distance in the Peanut's Auto Sportsman Modified Feature, but it was not an easy win as he was challenged for the lead the entire race. Ricky Sanville was hot on Huntington's back bumper until the only caution of the event flew for Tanner Siemons, who caught an infield tire in turn four and was hit by points' leader Jason Sanville, who had nowhere to go with six laps complete. On the restart Wayne Stearns surged into the runner up spot bringing defending champion Derek O'Hearn to third with him. Although the top three remained the same for the rest of the race it was an intense battle up front for the remainder of the event. At the finish it was Jeff Huntington with the win, Wayne Stearns second and Derek O'Hearn third. Rick Sanville and Jason Sanville completed the top five.
The Homestead Creations Sportsman Late Model Feature saw Cassie Ottati power into the lead from the outside pole position when the field took the green. The caution flew with only one circuit complete for turn two tangle involving multiple cars. The race quickly went to red as a fire flared up from the Donald Ottati machine which was quickly extinguished by the safety crew. When green flag racing resumed Ottati jumped back to the top spot but Bob Crawford was on the move from his sixth starting position, challenging Ottati for the lead. After running side by side for a couple of laps Crawford was able to move to the front where he remained or the duration of the event. The battle for second saw Travis Smith hold off multi time winner Toby Stark for a number of laps but Stark moved to second on lap thirteen with Smith fading back through the field. At the Checkers it was Bob Crawford for his first win of the season with Toby Stark second and Ryan Christian third in his first appearance in a Late Model at Legion Speedway this season. Doug Boucher came back from a flat tire to take fourth with Travis Smith fifth.
The Rand's Hardware Outlaw Mini Stocks saw Jacob Brown take the lead from the pole position with Nick Comeau settling into second. Just one lap later Jack Cook got turned and took a wild ride, flipping on the backstretch and actually bouncing off the windshield and hood of the Erin Aikin machine. The incident involved a number of other cars as well. All the drivers were Ok. Brown retained the lead when racing resumed but two laps later Rich Willey worked his way by Brown to take the lead. It looked like a sure win for Willey as he started to stretch the lead, but when the white flag flew Willey started to slow dramatically, a victim of a flat right front tire. Jacob Brown caught WIlley coming out of turn four to the checkers to take the win by a car length, his first of the season. Rich Willey was second with Robert Willey third. Dave Durkee and David Flanders completed the top five.
The Wingless Auto Club Feature found veteran Mark Cole lead all but one lap to take the win. Wade Prentice was a close second with Sam Comeau third.
The Granite State Mini Sprints saw Nate Martel power into the lead from his third starting spot, surviving four cautions to take the win in the 500cc main event. Owen Carbee came from the rear to finish second with Ed Vickery third. The 600cc main saw Kevin Heath lead for two thirds of the event before Drew Eldridge, who came from the rear after spinning early in the race, took the lead and went on to take the win. Heath would finish second with Kyle Belliveau third.
Appearing this Friday, September 1st along with all the cars and stars of the O'Reilly Auto Parts Twilight Racing Series will be the Sportsman Coupes making their second appearance of the year
