Jason Sanville Wins Again in the Sportsman Modifieds

With a less that stellar weather forecast Friday night and rain blanketing the surrounding area Management took a proactive stance and ran an extended laps, feature only program. The O'Reilly Auto Parts Twilight Racing Series saw Jason Sanville chalk up win number two of the year in the Peanut's Auto Sportsman Modifieds, Toby Stark also claimed his second win in the Homestead Creations Sportsman Late Models with Chris Conroy taking the win in the Rand's Hardware Outlaw Mini Stocks. The Sportsman Coupes were on hand for the first time this season with Melvin Pierson taking the win.
Ricky Sanville claimed the lead from the pole position when the green flew in the Peanut's Auto Sportsman Modifieds with Jason Sanville settling into the second spot. The races only caution flew for Tanner Siemons with thirteen laps complete. Jason Sanville took advantage of the yellow and blasted into the lead on the restart and held back Ricky Sanville, who finished second, for the duration of the event to take the win. Richie Gilpatrick also took advantage of the restart to move into third on the green which is where he finished at the drop of the checkers. Lenny Pillsbury and David Heath completed the top five.
The visiting Sportsman Coupes saw Chris LaForest lead the first lap of the caution free feature but LaForest slipped high entering turn one with Melvin Pierson taking advantage of it and claiming the lead down the backstretch and go on to the Victory. Jason Colbeth, who also moved into the second position before the end of lap number two and briefly challenged Pierson for the top spot, finished second,. The battle of the race was for third with no less than five exchanges for the spot over the course of the 30 lap event. When the checkers flew Todd Hayward was third with Brian Chaffee fourth and Bob Shepard fifth.
The Homestead Creations Sportsman Late Model Main Event saw Travis Smith jump to the lead from the outside pole position at the drop of the green, maintaining the lead through a couple of cautions over the first twelve laps. A lap thirteen restart saw Toby Stark take the top spot but the yellow flew again and Smith got the jump on the restart but one lap later Stark again claimed the top spot, maintaining the lead for the remainder of the 25 lap Affair to take the win. Hunter Nutter also got by Smith to finish second Matt Pike finishing third. Travis Smith faded to fourth with Curtis Leeman a season best fifth.
The Rand's Hardware Outlaw Mini Stocks Main Event got off to a rough start with three yellows before a lap was complete. They were given a 'Time Out', sitting in the infield while another Feature was run. When their race resumed Chris Conroy took the lead, not to headed for the duration of the feature to take the win. Veteran Jack Cook worked his way to the second spot with a handful of laps to go to finish second. Mike Lique finished third with Sean Lantas and Jacob Brown completed the top five.
Joining the regular divisions of the O'Reilly Auto Parts Twilight Racing Series this Friday night at 7:00PM, June 30th will be the second appearance of the season for the Sprint Cars of New England; it will also be race #1 of the SCoNE Triple Crown Series. An Enduro will complete the night.
The Legion Speedway is located on Route 25 at the Wentworth/Rumney NH Town line with racing every Friday Night at 7:00 PM.
