Opening night at The Legion Speedway played to a nice crowd in the stands with the newly formed Wingless Auto Club joining the Peanut's Auto Sportsman Modifieds, the Homestead Creations Sportsman Late Models and the Rand's Hardware Outlaw Mini Stocks of the O'Reilly Auto Parts Twilight Racing Series.
Ricky Sanville fired from the second starting spot at the drop of the green for the Peanut's Auto Sportsman Modifieds and blasted into the lead before exiting turn two of the first lap. Jason Sanville worked his way to second passing pole sitter Todd Buckwold before two laps were completed. Ricky Sanville stretched his lead over Jason Sanville as the laps clicked off, taking a dominating victory in the non-stop Feature, which only took Eight minutes to complete. Jason Sanville finished second with defending track Champion Derek O'Hearn moving past Randy Howe to third with 19 laps complete. Howe was fourth with Todd Buckwold completing the top five.
The Homestead Creations Sportsman Late Models saw Donald Ottati take the lead from the outside pole position as the green flag flew. Ottati held the lead through lap three when Chris Clarke took the top spot, but Clarke's lead was short lived as Travis Smith was on the move, claiming second on lap five and then taking the lead on lap seven. Smith, who started seventh, then cruised to the win, surviving a few restarts along the way. Toby Stark, who ran near the front all night was second with Car Show Winner Matt Pike third. Scott Heath and Hunter Nutter completed the top five.
William Partridge led the opening lap of the Rand's Hardware Outlaw Mini Stock Feature before Chris Conroy flew to the front. Conway would hold the lead until lap seven when Rich Willey, who had been applying intense pressure for a few laps, took over the top spot. Last years' leading winner, Aaron Bunker, who started last on the field blasted into second just after Willey took the lead. Bunker took advantage of a lap 10 caution and took the lead shortly after the restart, surviving one more caution before flying to the win. Rich Willey claimed second with Dave Durkee coming from 13th to finish third. Sean Lantas and Jack Cook completed the top five.
The newly formed Wingless Auto Club took to the track to complete the evening. Andy Badger led lap one before Wade Prentice took the top spot. Prentice held the lead until a lap six restart when Derek Jeanson took over the lead, holding it until a caution flew for early leader Prentice with 16 laps complete. On the restart Mike Horsch took the lead and went on to the win. Jeanson held on for second with Courtney Prentice third.
This Friday night joining the O'Reilly Auto Parts Twilight Racing Series regular divisions will be the Granite State Mini Sprints with the night concluding with an Enduro.
The Legion Speedway is located on Route 25 at the Wentworth/Rumney NH Town line with racing every Friday Night at 7:00 PM.
