Donnelly Cops Sprint Cars of New England Win
Ricky Sanville's decision to dust off the family's old trusty Troyer mount proved to be a stroke of genius as Sanville drove to the win in the Peanuts Auto Sportsman Modified Division, leading every lap along the way. Sanville jumped into the lead from the outside pole position in the caution free event, leading by as much as half a lap at times. Once Derek O'Hearn got by Robbie Williams for second he cut into Sanville's lead, but didn't have enough laps to challenge for the win. At the Finish it was Ricky Sanville claiming his first win of the season with O'Hearn second and Williams third. Jason Sanville and current point's leader Ryan Avery completed the top five.
In contrast to last week the Petro Mart of Enfield Super Streets ran a nearly caution free feature. Derrick Stearns led the first lap but was quickly passed by Donald Ottati, who led until the races' only caution on lap eight. Unfortunately for Ottati, he was the caution as he came to a stop at the top of turn two. On the restart young Hunter Nutter took control and rolled to his first career win in Motorsports. For Nutter it was sweet redemption as last week he ended up bottom side up on the backstretch. Bob Crawford Jr, who took second at the same time Nutter took the lead, finished second with Doug Boucher rebounding from a last place finish last week to claim third. JP Vaillaincourt was fourth and Derrick Stearns Fifth.
Jonathan Baker jumped to the quick lead in the Enfield Garage Outlaw Mini Stocks, a spot he held until Aaron Bunker claimed the lead with nine laps complete. For Bunker, who was looking for his third consecutive Victory, it looked to be clear sailing once in the lead, but contact with a another car flattened his Right front tire, giving up the lead with just three laps to go. Mike Lique inherited the lead and went on to claim the Victory, his fourth of the year. Matt Boucher crossed the line second with Jonathan Baker hanging onto third. Fabian Smith and Sean Lantas rounded out the top five.
The Sprint Cars of New England were also on hand to complete the final race of the Triple Crown Series that was rained out earlier in the Season. Patrick Smith Claimed the lead at the drop of the green building a nice lead. He was reeled in by current Point's leader Chris Donnelly, who executed the pass for the lead at the halfway point of the event and held the lead the rest of the way to take the win. Donnelly was chased across the line by Lacey Hanson in second with Will Hull, Dan Douville and Kevin Chaffee completing the top five. By virtue of his win Chris Donnelly was named the Triple Crown Champion.
Joining all the regular divisions of the O'Reilly Auto Parts Twilight Racing Series this week will be the first ever appearance of the USAC Dirt Midgets.
The Legion Speedway goes to post every Friday night at 7:00PM and is located on Route 25 at the Wentworth/Rumney NH Town line.
