Smith Tops Super Streets
Robbie Williams claimed the lead before a lap was complete in the Peanuts Auto Sportsman Modified Feature, building a healthy lead early in the race. Ryan Avery, racing with a power plant borrowed from fellow Racer Tim Churchill after having issues with his last week, chipped away at Williams lead and started challenging for the lead with about seven laps remaining in the feature. Avery was able to pull even with Williams a couple of times in the turns but Williams powered away on the straights and claimed his Second Win of the season in the caution free event. Avery finished second with Derek O'Hearn a close third. Ricky Sanville recovered from an early race bobble to finish fourth with last week's winner, Jason Sanville completing the top five.
The Bear Ridge Speedway Wells River Chevrolet Sportsman Coupes were on hand for the first time this year and like the Sportsman Modifieds ran a caution free Feature. Michael Danforth started on the pole and took advantage of it, running to the win. Early in the race Danforth was challenged by Todd Hayward but eventually pulled away from the field to take the Victory. Hayward finished second with Bob Shepard in the third spot with Tom Placey fourth and heat winner Josh Harrington fifth.
Action in the Petro Mart of Enfield Super Streets was hot and heavy with Travis Smith jumping into the lead at the drop of the green. Smith fended off persistent challenges, first from Hunter Nutter and later from Donald Ottati, who started last on the field. Eventually Ottati moved into the lead with 13 laps complete. Ottati's lead disappeared when the race's only caution flew with 16 laps complete as on the restart Travis Smith moved back into the lead and went on to take the win. Doug Boucher made a late race charge to claim second with Matt Pike third. Hunter Nutter and Russell Coutu completed the top five. As for race leader Donald Ottati, a flat right rear on the last lap saw him fade to the sixth position.
Aaron Bunker made short work of the field in the Enfield Garage Outlaw Mini Stock Feature. Bunker swiftly moved to the lead with only three laps in the books from the sixth starting position and was not challenged, claiming his third win of the season. Jonathan Baker had his best run of the season in second with Robert Willey also finishing in a podium position for the first time this season with third. Mike Lique and Sean Lantas completed the top five.
With lightning dancing in the distance the night concluded with an Enduro with Dillsburg, PA resident Rick Sowers taking the victory over Mike McClay and Jacob Brown.
The Granite State Mini Sprints will be on hand this coming week as well as all the regular divisions of the O'Reilly Auto Parts Twilight Racing Series.
The Legion Speedway goes to post every Friday night at 7:00PM and is located on Route 25 at the Wentworth/Rumney NH Town line.
