O'Hearn and Vaillancourt Win 3rd of Season
Submitted by: Alan Ward on 2016-06-19 at 13:45

It was a night of repeat winners in the O'Reilly Auto Parts Twilight Racing Series at the Legion Speedway on Friday night June 10th. Derek O'Hearn rolled to his third win of the season in the Peanuts Auto Sportsman Modifieds. JP Vaillancourt also claimed his third win of the season in the Petro Mart of Enfield Super Streets with Aaron Bunker winning for the second consecutive week in the Enfield Garage Outlaw Mini Stocks.

Derek O'Hearn once again took full advantage of his front row starting position to run to win number three in the Peanuts Auto Sportsman Modified feature. Ryan Avery authored another strong run, holding off the challenges of last week's winner, Jason Sanville to claim the runner up spot. Sanville would go on to finish third with Allan Hammond fourth and Terry Williams fifth at the finish.

The Petro Mart of Enfield Super Streets saw JP Vaillancourt return to action after missing last week due to work commitments and fly to his third win of the year. Vaillancourt started the Feature from the seventh position and worked his way to the front, besting the largest field of Super Streets so far this season. Tim Martin prevailed in an entertaining fight for second with Doug Boucher rounding out the top three. Matt Pike and Scott Heath completed the top five.

Aaron Bunker continued his winning ways in the Enfield Garage Outlaw Mini Stocks, rolling to his second consecutive Victory. Bunker started the race from the fifth position and had to pass former Feature Winners Matt Boucher and Mike Lique to get to the front. Once out front Bunker fended off all challenges to take the win. Sean Lantas finished second with Chris Sweet finishing third in his first appearance of the season. Mike Lique and Jack Cook completed the top five.

The Sprint Cars of New England (SCoNE) were also on hand contesting two Features for the evening. The first was a makeup event, completing the opening night event that was cut short due to rain. Will Hull took the lead early in the event and withstood a late race charge by Kevin Chaffee to take his second win of the year. Chaffee finished second with Luke Greenwood third, Dan Douville fourth and Lacey Hanson fifth. In the regularly scheduled SCoNE Feature Matt Austin would fly to the lead before the halfway point and go on to take the first win of his career. Rookie Matt Hoyt finished a career best second with Kevin Chaffee crossing the line in third. Will Hull and Chris Donnelly would complete the top five. For the second week in a row rookie Chris Clark would take a wild ride, this time flipping down the front stretch and landing against the turn one wall. While Clark was OK, his car was not.

Don't forget this coming Friday, June 24th is Kid's Night. There will be Kids Rides, the annual Kid's Bike Giveaway and other activities. As usual all the regular divisions of the O'Reilly Auto Parts Twilight Racing Series will be in competition.

The Legion Speedway goes to post every Friday night at 7:00PM and is located on Route 25 at the Wentworth/Rumney NH Town line.
